Get to know Miguel
Miguel, Migz, or Miggy as his friends and family call him, began competing in April 2022.
His love for golf began when he watched a group of kids playing golf a year ago during their family vacation in Palm Springs, CA. A flame erupted within him at this moment, and he registered in Operation 36 at the Blue Rock Golf Course in Vallejo, California.
This fire was ignited even more when he finished third in his first mini competition, the 9 Hole Junior Advanced Placement.
He didn't stop there; he ignited his passion for the game by finishing first in the same competition in May 2022. His remarkable progress and enthusiasm to learn earned him an invitation to participate in June, where he finished second overall.
He currently faces some of the top PGA Jr. competitors at the golf course in Blue Rock Springs.
His coach describes him as a natural and competitive, a gamer who enjoys playing Fortnite with his friends and cousins and creating Lego sets in his spare time, and we are confident that he will be travelling to nationals soon! Miggy's future in the game of golf is bright in large part to his tenacious work ethic and dedication to the game of golf, passion and drive to “win” not just compete, and ability to apply the new and advanced concepts we discuss about the swing. As it relates to junior golfers, Miggy displays the characteristics of someone capable of growing into a phenomenal player given he continues to enjoy the never-ending process of learning more about what the game of golf is continuously prepared to teach and more than most students so far I do truly think that if he sticks with it Golf will open many doors for him.

I have been working with Miguel since September '21. The first thing that stood out to me with Miguel is his infectious personality and positive attitude about all things in life. He is definitely a "glass half full" type of person. When looking at his golf, the things that impress me most are his desire to learn and his willingness to make necessary changes, even if the benefits aren't instantaneous. Miguel possesses a maturity and work ethic that far exceeds that of his peer group. Due to these qualities he is thriving in competitive settings and learning from each and every time he tees it up. Miguel is an excellent golfer and an even better young man. I'm thrilled to be a part of his journey and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
Chris Curnutt is a Teaching Professional working out of Blue Rock Springs Golf Course in Vallejo, CA. Originally from a suburb of Tulsa, OK, he began his golf journey at age 5 and never looked back. After playing multiple sports growing up, he decided to buckle down and focus on golf in high school. Chris was a member of a team which won 3 consecutive State Championships and amassed numerous wins over the 4 years. He attended the University of Arkansas with a major in Education. After college, he remained active in tournament golf and has played in multiple professional events on several different mini-tours. Although the majority of his time is spent in teaching roles, he continues to keep his game in playing shape and will play tournaments when possible. Chris is in the process of getting his PGA certifications and is also a Mizuno Staff Professional.

"I've had the opportunity to work with Migz since February of 2023. From his initial golf fitness assessment, Miguel's dedication to his golf game and his willingness to learn and work hard was apparent.
Not only does Migz come into the gym twice a week to train his mobility, strength, and swing speed, but he also completes solo workouts at his house while juggling practice, school, and all of his other extracurriculars. Migz continues to impress and I’m grateful to be a small part of his journey!"
